The scientific and technological achievements communique issued by the Japan Science and Technology Promotion Agency in June 2003 stated that scientists such as Hachiro Hiroshi and others found that bringing organic compounds into contact with metals at the nanoscale level results in new composite materials that are neither organic nor metallic. . This result shows that nanotechnology will become a new technology for creating new materials.
The experimental procedure for the new material was to inject a dilute solution of the organic molecule “diacetylene compound†(DCHD) dissolved in a hydrophilic organic solution into an aqueous silver nanocrystal (15 nm in diameter) aqueous dispersion. The organic molecules are precipitated by encapsulating silver nanocrystals, and then converted to conjugated macromolecular polydiacetylene using a photoirradiation polymerization method to become a new nanocomposite whose electronic state is a hybrid type. It is not only different from organic compounds but also different from metals.
Organic materials such as plastics and rubbers and inorganic materials such as glass and metals can be mixed at a size of more than micrometers. The resulting composite materials retain their respective characteristics and can be used as high-strength materials and electronic materials. The results of this study by Chinese and Western Hachiro indicate that nanotechnology can trigger new phenomena and produce new materials.
It is believed that this new discovery can be applied to the research and development of optoelectronics, electrons, magnetic materials, and nanodevices using these materials. The scientist is experimenting with various metals and organic compounds in order to discover more new phenomena and create more new materials.
