You should use a trot that shrinks slightly faster than normal work.
If you start from within a small natural distance or corner, the horse is already doing the right shoulder scratch. If you start to do shoulders in a straight line, the rider should first require the horses to flex softly inwards. (Use inner and inner legs to request horses)
