BMW (China) has filed a recall plan with the AQSIQ. From December 16th, all problem vehicles will be recalled and repaired and replaced free of charge.

The reporter learned from the Henan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) issued a warning notice on some imported BMW and Rolls-Royce car defects. According to the notice, some models of the 2012 BMW 7 Series, BMW 5 Series GT and Rolls-Royce Gust Automobile imported by BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. cannot start airbags and seat belts in the event of a collision. Safety protection systems such as tight devices and active headrests have major safety hazards.

According to reports, the airbag system is a passive safety protection system, which is used in conjunction with the seat belt to provide effective collision protection for the occupants in the event of an accident. The reason for this defect was that the supplier Autoliv incorrectly programmed the vehicle acceleration sensor when producing a certain batch of a certain type of airbag central sensor module. The affected airbag sensor will not be able to correctly accept the acceleration signal during the collision. As a result, the airbag, seat belt pretensioning device and active headrest will not start when the vehicle receives front and rear collisions. This defect will increase the likelihood that a person inside the vehicle will be injured in an accident requiring airbag deployment.

Zhou Xiaowei, Inspection and Supervision Department of Henan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, told reporters that according to statistics, the number of imported cars in Henan accounted for about 6% of the number of imported cars nationwide. “The number of imported BMW and Rolls-Royce vehicles involved in safety hazards in Henan is estimated to be between 1,300 and 1,400.”

At present, Henan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has carried out defect investigations on imported automobile organizations in the province, supervised the rectification of defective vehicles, and collected information on accidents caused by defects caused by consumers; at the same time, urged Henan to import BMW and Rolls-Royce dealers to fulfill Responsibility for timely notification and free maintenance; in addition, strict inspection and supervision of imported cars imported from similar vehicles at Zhengzhou, and immediately reported to the General Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection.

Importing a famous car is not a "failure"

The reporter recently visited a number of BMW 4S stores in Zhengzhou City. The staff told reporters that they are currently taking the time to follow the recall plan, dispatch spare parts, and actively contact the owner, and replace the defective parts from December 16 according to requirements.

Subsequently, the reporter interviewed the relevant person in charge of the Zhengzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau on the quality of imported cars. The director of the bureau, Bai Jiufeng, told the reporter that the entry-exit inspection and quarantine department is responsible for supervising the imported 4S shops. “As of now, there are no accidents caused by such defects in Zhengzhou and Kaifeng, Henan.”

However, Bai Jiufeng revealed to reporters that Zhengzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau had accepted many serious problems caused by the defects in the quality of imported cars.

“There was a car owner who bought the Audi Q7, and the sunroof curtains were not closed. Due to the delay in the spare parts, the curtain problem has been dragged for a long time, and in order to repair the spare parts, the interior of the car needs to be removed, and the owner is very distressed.” During this period The owner also found that the bottom of the vehicle leaked oil, so he asked for a change of car and compensation. "But if you really go back and forth, the depreciation fee is more than 200,000 yuan, and the car owners can't accept it. Under the efforts of the inspection and quarantine department, the two sides finally reached a compromise, the vehicle was dismantled, and the oil seal was replaced. The 4S shop promised to the customer. Warranty, give the owner a few more maintenance."

“There is also a more extreme case. A car owner in Zhengzhou purchased an imported Kia diesel version of the off-road vehicle. Just after buying the car, the owner drove the off-road vehicle to the plateau. As a result, after the plateau, the power could not keep up with the frequent flameout. When I climbed to the middle of the mountain, I couldn’t move anymore. I didn’t have a shop in front of the village. The owner’s wife was almost killed because of the lack of oxygen in the plateau. After returning, the owner began to fight the case and went to the Beijing head office. Finally, the owner was compensated for more than 1.2 million. Yuan and a new car."

The final investigation revealed that there was a problem with the vehicle instruction manual for the imported car. “The diesel car cannot be driven in an environment exceeding 2,800 meters above sea level according to the instructions. The dealer’s instructions show this clause, and the instructions received by the customer do not have such a prompt at all. This type of vehicle has certain defects in design and manufacture. It will soon be discontinued."

In case of recall, the owner should calmly respond

At present, the car manufacturers that initiated the recall are diversified, including many well-known brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Volvo. Along with the increasing awareness of consumer rights protection, the collection of defect information obtained from consumer channels has also increased and is becoming more and more perfect.
