Sun Yat-sen successfully prepared monomer modified nano masterbatch

A reactive monomer-modified PP-coated nano-CaCO3 master batch was prepared by a solution method at the Institute of Materials Science, School of Chemistry, Sun Yat-sen University. The chemical reaction, crystallization and melting behavior, and thermal stability of the master batch were studied by IR, DSC, and TGA methods. Nature and surface properties. The results showed that the reactive monomer modified PP formed a graft-coated nano-CaCO3 with the mass fraction of nano-CaCO3 as high as 80%. Different monomers have different effects on the crystallization temperature of PP, and the crystallization temperature is in the order of methyl methacrylate> methyl acrylate> butyl acrylate> a mixture of acrylic acid and styrene> non-monomeric maleic anhydride, acrylic anhydride, and styrene. Monomer modification further increases the masterbatch contact angle.
