The NAPOLEÓN comprehensive project led by José MarÃa Asua, professor of polymer materials at UPV/EHU University, has recently started. The project has been under preparation for more than four years and consists of 21 European experts from different small and large commercial companies and universities. It is dedicated to the development of a controlled nanostructured thin film with no solvent and residual monomers. The project's innovation is that the controlled structure of the film can be uniformly dissolved in water. The film's new features include increased bond strength with the base material, increased hardness and strength, improved wear resistance performance, enhanced permeability to liquids and gases, and enhanced fire resistance. This product will make more than 2,500 film manufacturing companies in Europe with 100,000 employees more competitive.
