"When we started the technology center, the effective technical support doubled," said Paul Bowers, head of the "Using Technology Teaching and Learning" department at BVU. Consistency and ease of use are the primary considerations for the design of 23 standard-sized classrooms in the Technology Center. Each room (approximately 25 to 30 students) includes a Sony ceiling-mounted projector, projection screen, and Panasonic DVD / VCR player.
The two larger classrooms in the center—which can accommodate 100 to 125 seats—integrate a wireless Modero ViewPoint touchscreen to control a dual projection system and surround sound audio.
The concentrated embodiment of the building's technology is a 20-seat showroom / meeting room, where a wireless MVP touch screen can directly activate two Samsung 63-inch plasma screens, surround sound, DVD / VCR players and several PC sources. The room has a unique U-shaped design and angular walls, plus a large floor-to-ceiling window overlooking Storm Lake. A large conference table is placed in the middle, next to a bookcase for storage, which can be used as a convenient place to place it when the touch screen is not used.
Under the leadership of project manager Ken Kittermen, AVI connected AMX's NetLinx control system with the network and the ceiling-mounted projectors in all rooms through programming.
